    1. Hi, Jane, great stuff! Finally, something for the indie-novelist, although I’m not sure what. It was interesting all the same.
I feel John Sundman is a kindred soul–I salute him! We both write sci-fi thrillers and both have technical backgrounds. My blog, a free-wheeling op-ed for the most part, possibly has the same problem as his, but, as far as I can tell, I have a small following (nothing like the chatting babies on YouTube, of course!). I just write what comes to mind and enjoy the lack of editorial constraints.
The Mongoliad Project, as far as I can tell, is just a serialized novel, basically. I also have a serialized novel on my website. But I’m not Greg Bear or Neal Stephenson.
What I couldn’t glean from John’s interview was how long it took for him to develop a fan base which actually translated into readers. I’ve been going at this for years now and still have not covered my expenses. It was also interesting that he didn’t find WD contests that useful. I’ve concluded that too…sorry, but I think it will develop my platform more to have a bunch of short stories published in magazines and e-zines. I don’t know what John or Greg would say about that…?
      Take care.
      r/Steve

    2. Jane, you are amazing. Thank you for all that you do! This is an excellent resource and a very important and interesting topic. I’m so glad they made recordings for those of us who couldn’t make it to SXSW this year.
